The US Army has awarded a five-year contract to VACCO Industries to supply T-700 anti-icing valves for use on its UH-60 series Black Hawk helicopters.
Vacco’s anti-icing valves provide hot air flow to protect the engine from frosting during flights and to eject air from the engine during start-up.
The T-700 engines are being used on US Navy’s Naval Hawk and the US coastguard’s Seahawk variations of the Black Hawk and the army’s AH-64 Apache helicopters.
Under the $35m contract, the initial purchase order for $2.5m was received and delivery of the product is expected to begin in 2011.
Vacco Industries is a wholly owned subsidiary of ESCO Technologies Holdings.
