The UK Ministry of Defence has announced General Sir Peter Wall as the next head of the British Army.

General Wall, currently commander-in-chief land forces, will take charge as chief of the general staff from General Sir David Richards in September 2010.

In 1974, Wall was commissioned into the Royal Engineers and had commands in Bosnia, Iraq and Germany.

He became commander-in-chief land forces in Wilton in July 2009.
