The Norwegian Defence Ministry has awarded a contract to Kongsberg to upgrade and deliver tactical communication radio equipment.

Under the NOK217m ($353m) contract, the company will upgrade the military's soldier and vehicle mounted communications equipment.

The equipment, based on IP, will enhance the Norwegian armed forces' interoperability with allied and homeland security forces.

The five-year contract has been awarded by the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment.
