The delivery of the highly mobile transport vehicle is part of the UK MoD’s urgent operational requirement contract for Afghanistan, which was signed in 2007.

The present contract calls for the delivery of an additional 45 Jackal 2a vehicles at a rate of one a day by August 2010.
Babcock produced the Jackal vehicles in close cooperation with Supacat, the prime contractor and design authority.
Supacat designs, develops and integrates the vehicles, while Babcock looks after the detailed production planning, purchasing and manufacture at its Devonport facility.
