Force Protection will supply 60 Buffalo Mine Protected Clearance Vehicles (MPCVs) to the US Army under a $62.4m contract.

The MPCV is an armoured vehicle specifically designed for route clearance of improvised explosive devices, land mines and other explosive objects.

Equipped with a 30ft remote interrogator arm, the MPCV quickly inspects suspicious roadside or buried objects, while protecting soldiers safely inside the vehicle.

Manufacturing work will be carried out in Ladson, South Carolina, and is expected to be complete by 30 June 2011.

Force Protection will start to deliver the vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2010.
