The Iranian Army will conduct large-scale military drills in 2011, according to a senior Iranian commander.
Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier Commander General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told Fars News Agency that five army divisions and seven independent brigades would take part in the wargames.

“The wargames will be conducted in the army’s southern zone and be undertaken by different ground force units,” he said.
“The wargames, to be conducted through methods for asymmetric wars, are meant to be an exercise for the mentioned divisions and brigades.”
The ground forces of the Iranian Army undergo 48 weeks of training every year and then pass field training carried out in three steps, according to the commander.
