Haulmark Trailers will provide and support 973 lightweight trailers to the Australian Defence Force under a A$70m contract.

Under the contract, Haulmark will supply new-generation vehicular systems, which will replace the current trailer capability for defence, according to Minister for Defence Materiel and Science Greg Combet.

The systems are specifically designed to operate in conjunction with the G Wagon vehicles, which are being acquired from Mercedes Benz Australia.

Combet said the contract was part of the A$6.6bn LAND 121 Project Overlander, a multiphase project to upgrade the army’s vehicles.

Deliveries will run until February 2015.
