Canada has ordered 36 T55-GA-714A engines for CH-47 Chinook helicopters, associated equipment and logistical support under a $71m US foreign military sale programme.
Under the proposed sale, Canada will also receive spare parts, support and test equipment; personnel training; training equipment and other related elements.

The proposed sale would improve Canada’s troop mobility, medical evacuations, aircraft recovery, parachute drops, search and rescue, disaster relief, firefighting and heavy construction.
Honeywell International, US, will be the prime contractor supplying the engines and associated parts.
