The Royal Thai Army has awarded a contract to Enstrom Helicopter Corporation for the provision of 16 480B advanced turbine training helicopters.
The turbine helicopter will be used by the army for training purposes as well as for a wide range of combat missions.
Enstrom sales and marketing director Tracy Biegler said that, avionics-wise, the new 480Bs would be some of most advanced aircraft in the Royal Thai Army’s inventory.
“These aircraft will have the ability to do a lot more than just training, including search and rescue, surveillance and disaster relief,” she said.
Powered by Rolls-Royce 250-C20W turbine engine, the helicopter has a maximum payload capacity of 3,000lb and a maximum cruise speed of 115kt.
