The German Army has awarded a contract to EADS Defence & Security to help it operate its helicopter fleet using a standardised operations support system.
Under the contract, the company will use the EUA / OSS onboard the Army’s Tiger combat helicopter and the NH90 transport helicopter.
Developed by Defence Electronics, EUA / OSS combines operational command and control with technical and logistic support for helicopters.
The system also increases the operational efficiency and enhances the deployment capabilities of the helicopters while reducing operational costs.
In addition, the scalable IT system of the EUA / OSS enables the system to plan missions based on tactical and logistic data, thereby increasing the accuracy of flight preparation.
The OSS has been operating successfully in test and training mode for the NH90 transport helicopter at the German Army Aviation School in Bückeburg for over a year.
The production contract has been awarded by the German Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement.
