India has successfully conducted a fourth test of the Agni III missile from Wheeler Island off the eastern state of Orissa.

According to a government press release, the nuclear-capable intermediate-range missile is capable of reaching major cities in parts of China.

During the test fire, the missile successfully met all the mission objectives and hit the target accurately.

Agni III is India’s longest-range missile, designed to reach 3,000km.

The first test of Agni III, conducted in July 2006, was unsuccessful but was followed up by successful tests in April 2007 and May 2008.
