The Trilateral Baltic Battalion (BALTBAT), led by troops from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia has entered the 14th rotation of the Nato Response Force (NRF-14) as well as the European Union Battle Group (EUBG).

A total of 130 personnel of the Lithuanian contingent have entered the EUBG, which also includes troops assigned to the multinational staff.

The Lithuania-led BALTBAT has been supplied with military divisions, staff personnel, mechanised infantry and staff support companies, as well as logistic support division.

Lithuania has contributed more than 600 troops for the Nato and EUBG operations. Other countries represented in the battlegroup are Poland, Latvia, Slovakia and Germany.

Lithuanian defence minister Rasa Jukneviciene said the entry was the priority task in Lithuanian troops’ combat training, less important only than training and participation in international missions.
