A revamped communications channel between the militaries of South Korea and North Korea will be resumed next week following a two-day trial period.

A South Korean defence ministry official said that they were working on linking optical fibre cable lines across the border.

In October 2009, South Korea provided the facilities to North Korea to upgrade the military communications channel.

The agreement to modernise the military communications channel was originally signed by the two countries in 2007.
