The Peruvian Army is likely to purchase military tanks from China, according to the country’s Defence Minister Rafael Rey.

Peru, which wants to purchase 80 to 120 tanks, has evaluated Chinese, German, Russian, Ukrainian and Polish models, La Republica daily reported.

In addition, the country also plans to look at navy and air force purchases as well, Radio Programas del Perú quoted the defence minister as saying.

The Peruvian Army recently tested the MBT-2000 tanks brought from China during a parade in its search for a better-equipped model of the tank.
