TenCate Advanced Armour will supply its multi-light ballistic protective inserts for the French Army FELIN programme under a contract awarded by Sagem.
The TenCate multilight system is a custom-made lightweight collection of protective ballistic inserts that fit a soldier’s particular requirements, including maximum protection, shape, weight, colour and costs.
The armour is designed with the latest state-of-the-art materials in various combined technologies, including high-performance polyethylene, aramids and ceramics, as well as high-performance materials such as boron carbide, polyethylene UD material or hybrids of different fibre materials.
Sagem was awarded a contract from the French General Delegation for Ordnance to supply 22,500 FELIN systems, for which TenCate will provide the ballistic protection.
The French Army FELIN programme is designed to enhance the combat skills of soldiers in the areas of mobility, fighting, communications, survivability, ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) and logistic support.
The ballistic protective inserts will be fielded and operational in 2010.
