India is expected to sign a multibillion-dollar arms deal with the US to acquire Patriot-3 anti-missiles systems after the Indian Army requested information on them from the Pentagon.
The Patriot advanced capability (PAC-3) is a solid-propellant rocket-powered missile designed to intercept and destroy incoming ballistic missiles with its kinetic energy.
It is equipped with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead to destroy targets like aircraft or cruise missiles.
The system also includes missile launcher and an upgraded AN/MPQ-65 radar to enhance detection in high-clutter environments, and to improve differentiation of closely spaced objects.
India also intends to acquire ten C-17 military transport aircraft for the air force wing, which were showcased in Agra last month during the India-US training exercises.
