The US Army will carry out its biggest military exercise in Africa to date, Natural Fire 10, in October with over 1,000 American and East African troops in northern Uganda.

The East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi are each sending up to 150 soldiers to join 450 US military personnel in Kitgum.

During the exercise the US Military along with East African partner nations will practise responses to a simulated flu pandemic and other disasters.

In addition, the exercise will involve live fire in the field as well as convoy operations, crowd control and vehicle checkpoints, and civic-engagement initiatives at schools and health clinics in Kitgum.
