A range of new secret missiles are set to be unveiled by China as part of the country’s national day parade in Beijing on 01 October 2009, according to state newspaper the Global Times.
The projectiles of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to be displayed will include intercontinental ballistic nuclear missiles and conventional cruise missiles as well as short and medium-range missiles.
The indigenous missiles have already been distributed to the military and are ready for operation, the news source added.
A military policy white paper issued by China earlier this year, claimed that the missile programme was aimed mainly at deterrence, but also said that the army would be capable of conducting nuclear counter-attacks and precision strikes with conventional missiles.
