The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Singapore Armed Forces are jointly conducting a counter-terrorism (CT) training exercise in Guilin, China from 18 to 26 June.

The nine-day exercise codenamed Cooperation 2009 emphasises the improved defence ties between China and Singapore and about 60 troops will participate from each country.

The SAF’s Second People’s Defence Force and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives (CBRE) Defence Group will exercise with soldiers from the PLA Emergency Response Office and Guangzhou Military Region.

The training will focus on security operations for major events and consequence management concepts related to CBRE threats.
