Sikorsky and Elbit Systems have successfully completed the test phase for the armed Black Hawk (ABH) demonstrator helicopter, also called the Battlehawk helicopter.

An optical missile, a laser-guided rocket and a 20mm turreted gun were successfully fired during the test, establishing Battlehawk as an attack helicopter with additional firepower and mission flexibility, Sikorsky officials said.

The chopper is outfitted with Elbit cockpit displays, a mission management system with digital map, forward-looking infrared (FLIR) and integrated helmet display system.

In the modern battlefield, the Battlehawk helicopter combines the unique capabilities of advanced attack and accurate weapons delivery with deployment of fast-reaction teams.

With the test phase complete, Sikorsky can offer production proposals for customers to convert existing Black Hawk helicopters or order new production aircraft in the armed configuration.
