The French defence procurement agency, délégation générale pour l’armement (DGA), is acquiring three advanced SDTI UAV systems fitted with lighter wings for better range and endurance, especially in hot-and-high conditions.

The SDTI (système de drone tactique intérimaire or interim tactical drone system) unmanned aerial vehicle systems help in collecting battlefield intelligence and target designation for field artillery, and also in defending ground forces.

The SDTI will be on exhibit at the Paris Air Show, currently being held in Le Bourget, where personnel from the French Army’s 61st Artillery Regiment will demonstrate operational employment.

The improved versions of SDTI UAV systems will be delivered to the French Army in early 2010.
