The US and UK Armies have completed the multinational experiment, MNE 3.0, and successfully demonstrated important network interoperability and combat data sharing concepts.

As part of its brigade combat team modernisation programme, the US Army conducted various experiments alongside UK forces in a joint service and multinational battle space environment to practice secure data transfer and target acquisition methods.

The year-long effort, which culminated this month evaluated the preliminary secure network infrastructure necessary to send and receive accurate target acquisition data between forces across the battlefield.

During MNE 3.0, the joint tactical radio systems Bowman waveform radio (JBW) was used for the first time to successfully communicate over the US soldier radios with the UK ADR+ (Bowman) radio.
