The US Army has provided additional funding of $14.7m to Raytheon for depot-level maintenance of Patriot air and missile defence systems.

Contract services include diagnostics, maintenance, repairs, modifications and technical assistance at a level higher than Patriot units are able to perform.

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems Patriot programmes vice president and deputy Joseph Garrett said that the contract provides for third-echelon maintenance performed by Raytheon field engineers at places where the US Army Patriot systems are deployed.

This is the fourth option under the 2006 contract bringing the total value to $51.9m.

The additional funds have been provided by the US Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
