Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed a framework agreement with Renault Trucks Defence for the delivery of Protector Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) to the French Army.

The agreement, worth up to US$100m, will upgrade the French Army’s Renault VAB 4×4 armoured personnel carriers.

Work will begin in the first quarter next year and is expected to run until 2016.

Vehicles will also be fitted with full Battle Management capability.

The Protector RWS enhances troop protection and lethality by providing soldiers with the ability to acquire and engage targets while inside the safety of a vehicle, Kongsberg says.
