ShotSpotter uses a sophisticated network of microphones to identify the exact location from which gunfire originates.

Through the use of GPS, multiple sensors alert a ‘bird’s eye’ video system to zoom in on the exact origin of the gunshot, giving police officers the information to react quickly and accurately to the situation.

The system, which is being used by the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan, was created in 1994 and is now in use across 29 cities in the US, including New York, Los Angeles and Washington DC.
