US company Homeland Security Strategies (HSS) has introduced a new bomb detection and defeat system for use against improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The GAUNLTET uses high power radio frequency energy to disrupt IEDs, bombs and suicide bomber vests, forcing the premature detonation of the device.

HSS says the system can be used by bomb squad and explosive ordinance disposal teams to initiate detonation.

It can also be configured for Anti-Terrorism Force Protection and used to defend against vehicle-borne IEDs and Suicide Bombers Victim Operated IEDs, by providing an RF pinch-point at a safe standoff distance.

HSS says the system is currently available for delivery, subject to International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations.
