General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products has been awarded a $107.7m contract option by the US Army for reactive armour protection for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
The option is part of a July 2006 contract, and brings the total value of that contract to $237m.
The armour, which consists of tiles fastened to the vehicle’s exterior, enables it to withstand a direct hit from a variety of anti-armour munitions, including shoulder-fired rocket propelled grenades.
Work on this contract is expected to continue until September 2009.
