CAE USA has awarded a multimillion-dollar subcontract to Kratos Defense & Security Solutions to provide M1A2 Abrams battle tank maintenance training systems.

According to the subcontract, the company will provide hands-on trainers (HOTs) hardware to CAE, which will be delivered to US Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation.

CAE will then conduct hardware / software integration and testing before delivery to the Maneuver Center of Excellence, the US Army Ordnance School and the Army National Guard Total Force Training Center.

The M1A2 Abrams SEP V2 and M1A1 Abrams SA belong to the latest version of the US Army’s family of Abrams MBTs.

Production of the MBTs will take place through 2013 for the US Army, with an additional modernisation scheduled for 2017.

The company was also awarded another contract to provide support maintenance training for US Army Aviation platforms, including the Black Hawk avionics trainer (BHAT-M) for the M model of the UH-60.
