The US Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) has successfully completed test trials of RADA Electronic Industries’ RPS-10 advanced radar sensor developed for Iron Fist active protection systems (APS).
The trials were part of a congressionally mandated evaluation of domestic and foreign APS for armoured vehicles.
The RPS-10 radar, the central sensor for the APS, actively facilitates threat detection, situational awareness and fire control functions.
The radar instantly plots intercept data, employs relevant countermeasures and destroys the potential threat at a safe distance from the protected vehicle.
Iron Fist, developed by the Israel Military Industries (IMI), is designed to engage threats to tanks including rocket propelled grenades (RPG), anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM) and armour-piercing kinetic energy projectiles.
