The US Army is conducting its largest network field exercise to evaluate key network technologies at White Sands, New Mexico, US.
More than 3,800 soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division will be participating in the six week exercise as part of the network integration evaluation (NIE).
The NIE includes five programmes of record which will be formally tested in an effort to develop a single battlefield network that would connect dismounted soldiers in real time to command posts, vehicles and higher headquarters.
The NIE will provide army testers and programme managers with an opportunity to assess how new and emerging technologies work with one another.
About 30 emerging or developmental technologies will be evaluated to assess their scope and readiness and integrate new capabilities before delivering it to soldiers in combat.
