Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $141m follow-on task order to continue development of the US Department of Defense automated biometric identification system (DoD-ABIS).

The task order was awarded under the information technology enterprise solutions 2 services (ITES-2S) indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract, and has one base year with four one-year option periods.

Under the contract, the company will provide systems engineering, software development, infrastructure and performance engineering, and modelling and simulation support.

The development order also includes programme management, systems engineering, software development, integration, training, disaster recovery, case management, system sustainment, scalability and interoperability.

The DoD-ABIS is a proven multimodal biometric enterprise system that provides military personnel with reliable information of persons that are suspected as threats to US national security.

Work on the task order will be performed at facilities in West Virginia, US.
