Harris has received an order from the US Department of Defense (DoD) to supply Falcon III multiband handheld radio systems for use in mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles.

Under the $11.7m order, Harris will install Falcon III AN/PRC-110 vehicular radio systems that include two AN/PRC-152 radios, which will serve as handheld transceivers.

The AN/VRC-110 vehicular radio system provides the US DoD with reliable, multimission, multiband communications and will be installed on US MRAP vehicles currently in use in Afghanistan.

The army has placed the order via the consolidated single-channel handheld radio (CSCHR) contract through the Joint Program Executive Office for the joint tactical radio system (JTRS).
