Harris has received an order from the US Department of Defense (DoD) to supply additional Falcon II AN/VRC-103 multiband, multimission vehicular radio systems.

Under the $5.5m order, Harris will install the AN/VRC-103 integrated communication system that includes a Falcon II AN/PRC-117F(C) software-defined manpack radio on mine-resistant ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles (M-ATVs).

The AN/PRC-117F covers multiple frequencies using military standard voice and data waveforms, ensuring interoperability with a variety of ground-based and airborne equipment.

Harris RF Communications US DoD business president Brendan O’Connell said AN/PRC-117F was the first to integrate line-of-sight voice and data, ground-to-air, beyond line-of-sight satellite communications interoperability in a single manpack radio.

“This radio will provide the warfighter with reliable, secure communications as they embark on their daily missions,” he added.
