Saab AB is to set up a joint venture (JV) with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to manufacture airborne warfare systems for advanced light helicopters in India.
The JV will manufacture electronic warfare systems for HAL’s advanced light Dhruv helicopters.
The HAL designed and developed Dhruv is a multirole, multimission helicopter currently in use with the Indian armed forces.
Saab India operations head Inderjit Sial said the JV, which has been approved by both Saab and HAL’s boards, will import as much as 60% of its components.
