Kongsberg has been awarded a contract for the development of the new combat training centre ground-based air defence (CTC-GBAD) for Swedish armed forces.

CTC-GBAD will comprise simulator-based training equipment that includes surveillance radar unit 23, surveillance radar 90, fire unit 97, fire unit 70, control and reporting centre workstations, and direct subordinate commander workstations.

The Skr100m ($14.5m) training equipment is for all main air defence sensors and effectors within the Swedish armed forces and will be installed in the existing training centre in Halmstad.

The new solution provides individual operator training and collective training at crew level as well as at unit level.

The delivery of the equipment will be finalised in 2012.
