The Indian Army has launched a messaging app called the ‘Secure Application for Internet’ (SAI).
This app was launched as a part of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.

SAI is designed to provide end-to-end secure voice, text and video calling services using the internet and is developed for the Android platform.
It is said to be similar to other messaging platforms such as Whatsapp and Telegram and uses end-to-end encryption messaging protocol.
In a statement, the Indian Ministry of Defence said: “SAI scores over on security features with local in-house servers and coding which can be tweaked as per requirements.”
“The application has been vetted by CERT-in empanelled auditor and Army Cyber Group.”

SAI will be used by all personnel across the army.
In August, DRDO identified 108 systems and subsystems for design and development to boost the indigenous defence ecosystem as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative.
DRDO will support the industries for the design, development and testing of the systems based on the requirement.
