Elbit Systems has secured a contract from an undisclosed Asia-Pacific Army customer for the delivery of light tanks.
The contract is valued at approximately $172m and has a base performance period of three years.

Elbit Systems is serving as the prime contractor and responsible to supply the 30t Sabrah light tank solution.
Sabrah is based on General Dynamics’ tracked ASCOD platform and wheeled Pandur II 8X8 platform.
ASCOD is produced by Spain-headquartered General Dynamics European Land Systems Santa Bárbara (GDELS).
Pandur II 8X8 platform is manufactured by Czech Republic’s Excalibur Army.
According to Elbit Systems, Sabrah offers both superior fire capacity and high manoeuvrability.
The company noted that a 105mm turret and various Elbit subsystems will be incorporated on ASCOD and Pandur II 8X8 platforms.
The subsystems include electro-optical sights, TORCH-X battle management systems, E-LynX software defined radio (SDR) systems and more.
Elbit Systems president and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said: “This light tank contract reflects the mutually beneficial strategic co-operation between Elbit Systems and GDELS, based on joint development and manufacturing of vehicle-turret solutions.
“Our comprehensive portfolio of subsystems provides us with a strong position in the armoured vehicle market, especially as mission requirements become more diverse and increasingly networked.
“We believe that the ‘Sabrah’ light tank solution can provide high operational value for additional armed forces.”
Earlier this month, Elbit Systems secured a contract to supply new vehicular tactical computers for the Royal Netherlands Army (RNLA).
