DMI has received an artificial intelligence contract to modernise the US Army’s Interactive Personnel Electronic Records Management System (iPERMS).
Under the $8m contract, awarded by the Human Resources Command (HRC), DMI will use its AIQUS artificial intelligence and machine learning portfolio to carry out the modernisation work.

iPERMS is a centralised database containing official military personnel records. It replaces a labour intensive system based on paper documents.
The records management programme is designed to streamline the processes related to the management of the records.
The integrated document management system allows commanders, soldiers, and the Human Resource community to have on-line access and electronic input to official military personnel files in a web-based environment.

The system stores documents such as birth certificates, marriage licences, college transcripts and deployment orders.
iPERMS processes around two million artefacts every month.
The contract will see DMI will leverage technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to scan personnel file metadata.
Work will include enabling proper indexing, filing and management of the data within the iPERMS system. The contract will help the HRC in reducing errors.
