Raytheon has secured a $641.8m contract to conduct ballistic missile defence system (BMDS) tests for multiple radar platforms of the US.
Planning, execution and evaluation of sensor systems for BMDS flights and ground tests is covered by the contract, as well as sensor modelling and simulation.
The contract was awarded by the US Missile Defense Agency. The contractual work will be performed in Huntsville, Alabama and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Romanian Armed Forces has placed a $1bn order with General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) for Piranha 5 armoured vehicles.
A total of 227 Piranha 5 8×8 vehicles will be produced in six different configurations for use by the Romanian Army.
The deal is part of a strategic co-operation and transfer of technology programme between Uzina Mecanică București (UMB) and Mowag, a part of GDELS.
Iveco Defence Vehicles has secured an order from BwFuhrpark Service to deliver 280 Eurocargo 4×4 multi-purpose trucks to the German Army.
Iveco also signed a deal to supply 173 6×6 military logistics vehicles from its high-mobility truck range to the Romanian Ministry of National Defence.
The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered in 2018.
CAE USA has received a contract to deliver a new suite of engine trainers for the US Army’s Abrams M1A2 battle tank.
Awarded by the US Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, the deal includes two new M1A2 Abrams tank driver stations with live-engine maintenance trainers. Options for nine additional Abrams live-engine maintenance trainers are included.
A new courseware with an updated instructor operator station will be developed under the contract.
