
The UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 4.3% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.94% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 21.04% share in October 2021, recording a decrease of 2.31% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.14% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 61.4% in October 2021, registering a 7.69% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed a 15.81% share, a decrease of 10.53% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 11.16%, registering a 52% decline from September 2021.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 5.58%, down 25% over the previous month.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 16.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s aerospace, defence & security industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
Airbus posted 33 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 73.68% over the previous month, followed by Leidos Holdings with 29 jobs and a 480% growth. James Fisher and Sons with 26 IT jobs and Thales with 23 jobs, recorded a 10.34% decline and a 9.52% flat growth, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded a decline of 45% with 22 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.05%, down by 11.8% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 22.79% share, registered a decline of 20.97% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.16% share, down 38.46% over September 2021.
