Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 55.28% in December 2021, a 20.77% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 19.35% in December 2021, marking a 37.69% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 13.06% in December 2021, a 35.9% drop from November 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 32.02% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during December 2021 over previous month.
The Boeing posted 1,425 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 32.97% over the previous month, followed by L3Harris Technologies with 1,122 jobs and a 172.99% growth. Leidos Holdings with 544 IT jobs and Raytheon Technologies with 543 jobs, recorded a 17.33% drop and a 70.87% drop, respectively, while Lockheed Martin recorded a 55.08% decline with 380 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.08% share in December 2021, a 29.22% decrease over November 2021. Canada featured next with a 1.86% share, down 19.33% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.06% share, a drop of 66.67% compared with November 2021.
Mid Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Mid Level jobs held a share of 44.45%, down by 27.38% from November 2021. Junior Level positions with a 36.38% share, registered a decline of 32.37% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.58% share, down 27.38% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.6%, recording a month-on-month growth of 3.33%.
