Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 51.63% in October 2021, a 15.1% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 20.27% in October 2021, marking a 31.88% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 15.36% in October 2021, a 34.22% drop from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 9.61% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Raytheon Technologies posted 1,706 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 22.45% over the previous month, followed by The Boeing with 1,331 jobs and a 37.16% drop. Lockheed Martin with 808 IT jobs and Leidos Holdings with 729 jobs, recorded an 114.89% rise and an 84.56% rise, respectively, while L3Harris Technologies recorded a 3.35% decline with 404 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.3% share in October 2021, a 25.05% decrease over September 2021. Canada featured next with a 1.48% share, down 3.3% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.22% share, a growth of 116.67% compared with September 2021.
Mid Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Mid Level jobs held a share of 41.2%, down by 30.34% from September 2021. Junior Level positions with a 39.1% share, registered a decline of 21.13% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 19.12% share, down 18.41% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.57%, recording a month-on-month decline of 8.11%.
