Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity drops 4.5% in October 2021

Europe witnessed a 4.5% drop in IT hiring activity in the aerospace, defence & security industry in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2021 has seen an increase of 4.31% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 17.24% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 0.96% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 68.96% in October 2021, a 0.19% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 12.68% in October 2021, marking a 22.58% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Research Scientists with a share of 7.93% in October 2021, a 9.09% drop from September 2021.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 6.87% in October 2021, a 4% rise over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 1.92% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry during October 2021 over previous month.

Thales posted 197 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 15.81% over the previous month, followed by Airbus with 145 jobs and a 34.26% growth. The Boeing with 120 IT jobs and Leidos Holdings with 53 jobs, recorded a 36.17% drop and a 430% rise, respectively, while Rohde & SchwarzKG recorded a 43.75% increase with 46 job postings during October 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s aerospace, defence & security industry

France commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 28.53% share in October 2021, an 11.92% increase over September 2021. The UK featured next with a 28.4% share, down 17.94% over the previous month. Germany recorded a 19.29% share, a drop of 3.95% compared with September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.6%, down by 5.05% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20.61% share, registered a decline of 7.14% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.8% share, down 9.68% over September 2021.
