China’s apparel industry registered a 7.7% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.42% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.88% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 0.05% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.85% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s apparel industry in September 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 85.61% in September 2021, registering a 23.37% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.75% share, a decrease of 3.28% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 4.75%, registering a 33.33% rise from August 2021.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 0.45%, down 57.14% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 19.31% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s apparel industry during September 2021 over August 2021.

JD posted 296 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 59.14% over the previous month, followed by Alibaba Group Holding with 173 jobs and a 62.06% drop. Amazon with 69 IT jobs and Robert Bosch with 62 jobs, recorded a 43.75% flat growth and a 15.07% decrease, respectively, while Apple recorded an increase of 92.86% with 27 job postings during September 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 78.49%, down by 15.5% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with an 11.42% share, registered a decline of 39.84% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.5% share, down 20.99% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.59%, recording a month-on-month decline of 82.61%.
