Canada’s apparel industry registered a 3.8% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 15.69% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 9.13% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 1.01% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.58% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 79.75% in September 2021, registering a 13.3% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 7.59% share, an increase of 80% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 4.22%, registering a 41.18% decline from August 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 4.22%, up 233.33% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 8.47% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Amazon posted 157 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 17.37% over the previous month, followed by Canadian Tire with 26 jobs and a 7.14% drop. Loblaw Companies with 20 IT jobs and Lululemon Athletica with 8 jobs, recorded a 122.22% flat growth and a 100% flat growth, respectively, while Danaher recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during September 2021.
Entry Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Entry Level jobs held a share of 49.37%, up by 31.46% from August 2021. Junior Level positions with a 37.97% share, registered a decline of 34.31% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 12.66% share, flat growth over August 2021.
