Australia’s apparel industry IT recruitment activity rises 3.1% in January 2022

Australia’s apparel industry registered a 3.1% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 23.46% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.8% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 0.23% over the last three-month average share.


Top five job classifications in Australia’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.61% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s apparel industry in January 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 55.09% in January 2022, registering a 10.19% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.06% share, a decrease of 40% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.5%, registering a 17.39% rise from December 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 8.8%, up 375% over the previous month.


Top five apparel companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 3.09% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s apparel industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Amazon posted 90 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 83.67% over the previous month, followed by Woolworths Group with 47 jobs and a 31.88% drop. Wesfarmers with 31 IT jobs and Coles Group with 26 jobs, recorded a 20.51% decline and a 4% growth, respectively, while Cotton On Clothing recorded a decline of 50% with 6 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 71.76%, up by 16.54% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.91% share, registered a decline of 12.24% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.33% share, down 10% over December 2022.
