
Australia’s apparel industry registered a 2.7% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 18.47% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.5% share in September 2021, recording a decrease of 1.19% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Australia’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s apparel industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 63.33% in September 2021, registering a 23.23% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 22.5% share, a decrease of 27.03% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 7.5%, registering a 40% decline from August 2021.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 4.17%, down 16.67% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 26.35% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s apparel industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
Woolworths Group posted 29 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a drop of 34.09% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 23 jobs and a 23.33% drop. Wesfarmers with 22 IT jobs and Coles Group with 22 jobs, recorded a 26.67% decline and an 18.52% decrease, respectively, while Zip recorded a decline of 23.53% with 13 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.83%, down by 26.02% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 20% share, registered a decline of 25% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.17% share, down 58.33% over August 2021.
