Bustec Introduces ProDAQ 6150 48-Channel Isolated Thermocouple LXI Instrument
Bustec Production Ltd. has introduced the ProDAQ 6150, a high-channel-count thermocouple measurement instrument designed for test environments where electrical noise, ground loops, and timing skew can affect temperature measurement accuracy.
Complex test facilities—such as aerospace propulsion test stands, environmental chambers, and power electronics validation laboratories—often require large numbers of temperature sensors operating simultaneously. In such environments, multiplexed measurement architectures and insufficient channel isolation can introduce measurement errors, complicate data validation, and lead to repeated test runs or extended qualification timelines.
The ProDAQ 6150 is designed to address these challenges by combining 48 fully isolated thermocouple inputs with simultaneous sampling, allowing temperature data to be captured across all channels at the same instant. This approach helps preserve time alignment during fast thermal transients and reduces the risk of noise coupling between measurement channels.
Technical features
Key capabilities of the ProDAQ 6150 include:
- Support for up to 48 thermocouple input channels, compatible with all common industrial thermocouple types
- Per-channel isolation, including channel-to-channel and channel-to-chassis isolation, to reduce the effects of electrical noise and ground loops
- 24-bit sigma-delta analogue-to-digital conversion for high-resolution temperature measurement
- Measurement accuracy of ±0.2°C
- Simultaneous sampling across all channels to maintain timing relationships during dynamic thermal events
- High-precision per-channel cold junction reference measured and calculated in real-time with each sample
- LXI-compliant Ethernet connectivity for integration into distributed and remote test systems
Applications
The instrument is intended for use in test environments where temperature data directly influences safety, certification, or performance assessment. Typical applications include:
- Aerospace and defence engine, structural, and subsystem testing
- Automotive and electric vehicle development, including battery and inverter validation
- Industrial research and development facilities operating in electrically noisy or high-voltage environments
By measuring each temperature channel independently and concurrently, the ProDAQ 6150 reduces the need for extensive post-processing or additional verification steps commonly associated with multiplexed temperature measurement systems.
Integration within LXI-based test systems
The ProDAQ 6150 expands Bustec’s portfolio of LXI-based instrumentation focused on precision measurement, synchronisation, and long-term system stability. The instrument is designed to integrate into existing LXI test infrastructures and can be deployed alongside other measurement hardware used for mixed-signal, vibration, and digital data acquisition.
