Barrett Communications, an international communications company specialising in the design and manufacture of HF and VHF communications solutions, has been awarded a $6m contract to supply HF communications equipment in various configurations to a Border Security Agency in Central Asia as part of the United States Assistance programme.

The equipment being supplied provides the user secure long range voice and data communications without the need for existing infrastructure. The supply of multiple configurations, PRC-2090 Tactical HF Manpack, PRC-2091 Tactical HF Mobile and PRC-2092 Tactical HF Base Station, delivers proven field deployable HF communications with unparalleled value. The PRC-2090 transceiver is the basis of all configurations and its intuitive user interface ensures that operation of the PRC-2090 is very simple, requiring minimal user training.

Barrett Communications Europe general manager Andrew Burt said: "Having a single transceiver across all configurations allows the communications equipment to be easily scalable. The end user already has a significant quantity of Barrett equipment, so the additional equipment will enable the Agency to continue its critical operations with fit for purpose equipment that can handle the extreme conditions".
