Circuit boards continue to evolve and are required to perform more functions in a smaller footprint. Meanwhile, the physical number of wires needed for data acquisition and inter-circuit modules continue to escalate.

As data speeds rise, differential signal routing too increases, as do the number of high-speed drain wires necessary. While this continues to be a design challenge for today’s modern day designer, this growth in wire count can easily be solved using Omnetics’ Nano-D connectors wired in a format to account for these factors.

Performance testing has proven higher speed digital signals run more efficient when some basic design rules are applied. For more in-depth high speed digital routing questions, please see the Omnetics’s website at www.omnetics.com or contact sales@omnetics.com and the firm can connect you to its high-speed specialist.

With many sizes and formats readily available in Omnetics COTs and Standards library, customer’s prototype design can be assembled quick and pain free for initial testing and certification.

Standard contact sizes include 9, 15, 21, 25, 31, 37, 51, 65 and 85 pins, all at .025in pitch. All wired sizes come pre-assembled with 18in of 30 AWG Teflon® insulated wire and circuit board. Form factors range from horizontal and vertical surface mount, to a number of thru-hole configurations.

Panel mount housings are available and have the ability to include an environmental seal and will inter-mate with all MIL-DTL-32139 deigns. These connectors exhibit high reliability by using qualified component elements that have passed QPL testing for military and aerospace applications.

Omnetics flex-pin and socket systems are plated to full military specifications and have greatly exceeded the number of mates and de-mates called out within MIL-DTL-32139.

Nano-D connectors, although small, have proven their toughness and reliability time-in and time-out within circuitry used in weaponry, robotics, future soldier systems as well as unmanned vehicles technology. Other popular uses include portable surveillance, mission-critical satellites, as well as down-hole drilling tools that reach and operate in temperatures exceeding 200 degrees centigrade.

Most applications have high shock and vibration requirements that the Nano-D passes with flying colours.

Omnetics has been a certified supplier to the military specification MIL-DTL-32139 for Nano-D connectors since 2007, and is well experienced in assembly, performance and connector design.

When customising or varying from standard designs, Omnetics offers design support using SolidWorks® 3D modeling. This can include adding back shells and cable shielding to assist in EMI Protection.

Omnetics also offers a quick-latching format for designers looking to move away from the 0-80 jackscrews that come standard within the Nano-D family. Please consult the factory with any other questions. Additional details and contacts are available at www.omnetics.com.
